Kyrene Schools and the Kyrene School District
The Kyrene School District serves approximately 18,000 students in K-8 and over 400 preschool children, encompassing all of Ahwatukee, parts of Chandler, Guadalupe, Tempe, and the Gila River Indian Reservation. They have consistently been one of the top performing school districts in the state of Arizona, with over 125 years of excellence in education. The Kyrene School District is comprised of 19 elementary and six middle schools.
The Kyrene School District is an "A" rated district based on the state's accountability system, Arizona Learns. The Kyrene School District curriculum is aligned to Arizona state standards, and consistently receiving AIMS Scores that exceed the State average in reading, science, and math. Kyrene School District teachers are all 100% certified, and they actively recruit National Board-Certified teachers to continue their tradition of excellence. The Kyrene School District allows parents of students to apply for open enrollment. Open enrollment is for families living outside the Kyrene School District boundaries, or for families living within the Kyrene boundaries who want to attend a school other than their designated home school.
Open enrollment is subject to, but not limited to, the following:
* Space availability * Student status with another school district
* Program capacities * Student status with the juvenile court system
